About New Search Windows

Unread post by ik2eae »

The new search windows is very helpful, but if I try to modify more than 1 qso, I can't edit all fileds but only the first two row, so not the Name, QTH, Grid Square, IOTA and Manager.

If I create a new rules (filter) to search inside my log, the frequency input windows its too small instead, the field QSL>contains its too large (that it's not a great problem).
I found the same problem if I want edit more than 1 qso from lo windows. For example I can't assign the same IOTA number at the same island with different callsign.

I suggest, if possible, use this new search windows with Log Of The World. Few days ago I had a certificare from LOTW and I want to search and upload some specific QSO but the command LOTW OUT it's grey.

It can be helpful I think

The new search window use Cocoa build in routines. It's a very powerful tool and easy to set up without any code.At the other hand, the layout is fixed. I can't change the width of the fields.
While editing multiple QSOs, you can't change all provided database fields when there are multiple call signs in question. I don't see a scenario for that. There a big risk for destroying your correct logged data.

LoTW uploads work in the main window only due to internals. You should upload all your QSOs in the log. Why do you want to upload few QSOs only?

In my old log's database there's not a "IOTA" field so I had write the reference on "NOTE" field.
Now with rumlog I want to correct and assigne for all OY callsign the right iota number but in this way I must change manually one by one.
That's way I suggest to enable other fields, there's will be no problem like this in the future rumlog.
About the width it's not a great problem if you can't.

On a future release, the fields order in the search windows can be saved?

For an example, In the search Windows I want keep the callsign column close to' the manager column but when I close and open a new session the manager column return on right side, I can't save a custom order.
Sometime when I use this Windows rumlog crash, if this happen again I can send you an email with the error report?

Do you mean the QSO tables for the search results? They should save the all column information, including width, sort column and sort order. Here it works as it should. A crash report may be helpful.

Anybody else?

I've recently started using RumLogNG and have imported many QSOs from my previous logging program. Most of these QSOs do not have any information in the "Operator" field. I would like to be able to fill the "Operator" field on multiple QSOs.

I cannot re-import the log, because there has been far too much information changed in the log already since the import.

On another topic, I've been accustomed for years to using Avery 5161 labels for my QSL purposes. Would it be possible to add Avery 5161 to the available QSL label templates in RumLogNG (8.5 inch x 11 inch sheet, 1 in x 4 inch label, 20 labels per sheet)?

Thank you, Tom, for all your work...:-)

John,

which field do you mean with "Operator" field? The op name field, or do you use a custom field for it?

Please check, if the attached pdf file will fit exactly on your used label sheet.

I'm sorry, I confused it. I used the "Operator" suggestion for User_2 when I imported a contest log, I would like to use that field for the name of my station operator for the entire log. I haven't seen an "op name" field, I see the "Name" field for the name of the operator of the contacted station, that's not the field I mean. I want to save the callsign of the operator for my station, on each QSO.

The print sample doesn't work, the top margin is about .5-inch too large (the Avery sheet is .5-inch to the top of the first label). The printout labels are apparently not 1-inch high, as labels 14, 15, 16, 17 line up with the Avery sheet, the rest are either too low (the ones before 14) or too high (the ones after 17) to line up properly with the label sheet. I'm using a Brother HL-5240 laser printer for my labels.
