Basic Questions from a Newbie

Hi All,

I just joined this forum. I'm new to HF and to logging contacts. I have a Mac so RumLog seemed a good choice. I have a couple general questions:

1) When I type in someone's callsign and tab out of the field, shouldn't fields like name, QTH, etc. automatically populate if I have QRZ.com properly set up? I believe I do, yet, this is not happening.

2) When I try to save a QSO, sometimes it disappears? Not really sure what's going on. I'd love to be able to use RumLog to simply log contacts quickly, and then upload to LoTW, QRZ, etc., but so far it's been a little quirky.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I've reviewed all the Preferences and read through the manual. Just doesn't seem very intuitive for a beginner.

Appreciate your thoughts here before I give up and find something more simple.

1) Yes, you are right. Without seeing a screen shot it's hard to find out the failure.
2) Can you find the QSO in the log table? Maybe it's not sorted by date.

Hi Tom,

I'll try and get a screen shot today if possible. But the log isn't showing anything. Let me give it a go when I get a moment today and will try to get some more info into this thread.

Here is a screen shot (see attachment). Not sure what we're looking for here.... When I type in the call sign in the callsign field and tab out of the field, nothing happens.

The other day when I set this up and configured my QRZ Password, LoTW password, etc. it seemed to work fine. But when I tried to use it the other night, it didn't work. Nothing changed from what I can see.

To make a HamQTH or qrz query the HamQTH/qrz/QRZCQ Window must be open. See the Window menu.

Hi Tom, I opened that window and then re-entered my QSO's and everything worked fine!!!

I was even able to export the ADIF and use TSQL to sign it and upload it to LoTW.
