Best path to CW keying by computer

Unread post by N2TSQ »

I have an FTDX3000 and am building a new station. Is it a fair question to ask: what is the best way to add computer keying? It seems like there are several options and I can't sort out which approach is best. Any thoughts from the group?

Thank you in advance, Bob N2TSQ

I would recommend a K1EL keyer. (http://k1el.tripod.com) You can use the original Winkey chip, or other approaches like an Arduino. Some interfaces have Winkey chip integrated as well.

I love my K1EL Keyer. One thing to keep in mind is if you are using FLDigi to decode like I do (I am still trying to get my speed up) you must make sure that RUMlogNG is the program that is selected when you use the macro keys. If FLDigi has the focus the sound card that you have configured will send instead.
