anyone have the ve2dx yc2-bt working with RUMlogNG ?

Hi
I recently purchased the ve2dx yc2-bt ( https://ve2dx.com/yaesu-bluetooth-inter ... 22ca71f8e8 ) to replace the usb to din cable connecting my Yaesu FT-710 to my Mac. Currently having issues trying to get it to stay connected and then connect RUMlogNG to the radio. Also tried it on my Raspberry Pi4 with a different logger and had the same lack of results.
I reached out to ve2dx engineering and they have not tried it on a Mac or Linux. Has anyone here tried it ?
more detail:
I am finding that the YC2-BT does not stay connected to either the MacOS boxes or Linux Pi box. It will connect for about a minute and then disconnects. I followed their video for setting up the FT-710. I am learning some of the putty like things on Mac but haven't been able to connect yet.Tomorrow I will fire up the raspberry Pi and try to debug a bit with Linux in case I can learn something.. ( I am a retired Linux developer / performance engineer. )
I am trying to work through the RUMlogNG TX config to get it to actually connect to the radio. The device does show up in the pulldown for the connection but I have not been able to connect to the radio. This is treating it as a serial device and also tried it as bluetooth device. I tried the ble scan and it isn't found. Is that just for Icom devices?
Thoughts on how to configure this in regards to treating it as a serial device or just a BLE device ?
anyone have test programs or tips that you can share to help me research this further
this is a new area for the application of the YC2-BT device, what info can I help gather and how can I help payback the community.
They also a similiar device but with an rs-232 interface that should work with older Yaesu radios like my FT-847.
